J has been supported by AutonoMe since 2022. Over that time, we have watched his confidence and
independence grow in so many ways.
J has built strong skills in cooking and cleaning, and he’s taken on a volunteer role with local organisation
Changing Lives, where he’s happily turned his hand to a wide range of tasks. Each step has been a building block towards something really special.
Now, J has reached a huge milestone, moving into his own home and living independently. Before the move, J and his AutonoMe Mentor, Emma, spent time together planning his budget and preparing for this next chapter.
Moving house can be stressful for anyone, but J has handled it with determination and pride. It’s been fantastic to see how well he’s settling in, chatting about meal planning, food shopping, and making the space his own. When previously asked why getting a job was important to him, he said:
“Because it will give me something to do and get out of the house so I ain’t sat around bored.”
It’s about more than work; it’s about purpose, confidence, independence, and the ability to thrive in life.
J has already achieved so much, and this is just the beginning. We are really looking forward to seeing him
flourish in his new home.
